end of another school year

For the 23rd time, I am getting ready for the end of a school year. Usually this involves getting the students to do activities outside, like spending the day at Splash Planet (a great place to spend a day) tubing down the Mohaka River (I tried it four years ago and it was crazy, but cold, fun) It can be quite difficult at this time of the year to keep the students motivated and on task, but mine seem to be plugging away at the work I give them. I am trying to make my lessons as interesting as possible, using YouTube as an excellent tool. There are an amazing number of video clips that can be incorporated into Science lessons on Astonomy; probes to Mars, the Big bang theory, how the dinosaurs died out and so on. I have great fun finding them on YouTube to use in class. It’s all over on Friday 10th and then I get ready for my new classes next year, my 24th year of teaching and I still enjoy it!
