last night I attended a cocktail party to celebrate 20 years since HN Borough Council was amalgamated into Hastings District Council. I gather at the time it was a sad occasion with the councillors and staff walking around the village, on the last day, with a coffin to symbolise the “death of Havelock North”. On the walls of the Community Centre they had photos of old HN, including a ones taken in 1991 and 1999. The growth around the village has been quite staggering. The ward councillors who have, and are now representing HN are very passionate about controlling the growth in the village. Rest assurred, we are looking after “our patch”.
